    hi all

    I have installed the win 7 on Dell M1330, everything was right.
    Then I occasionaly pressed the "Mediadirect" button instead of Power... the mediadirect was started and it seems it's crashed MBR.

    fdisk shows:
    - 2 old partitions now. They were C: and D: before "Mediadirect" button was pressed (now these 2 partitions are shown without letters);
    - Mediadirect partition, which became C: This partition is active now.

    fdisk /mbr and assigning the first partition as active did not help. Th system writes "NTLDR is missing"

    What is the solution for this???
    thanx.

    Some people have had luck fixing the problem by pressing the mediadirect button a second time. It might work for you.

    I guess it's too late to be of any help now, but on older Dells, pressing the mediadirect button without a mediadirect partition will brick your laptop. It's totally retarded, but then again, so is Dell.

    Every model designed in the pre-Mediadirect 4.0 era.

    Note that I'm not saying that a Mediadirect 4.0 machine can't be bricked this way, I simply don't have any information one way or the other and I doubt anyone would like to risk bricking their brand new Studio to test this ;)
