Is Dell going to be shipped with OS X in a near future?

It's possible to install Mac OS on Windows based computers. Just Google it and you will find quite a few results. I even know a guy who managed to put Mac OS on his AMD system!

No, Apple will probably never license their OS out to anyone, so people are loading Mac OS X onto their notebooks themselves (which by the way is illegal). Legally, Dell can't sell their notebooks with Mac OS X unless Apple lets them. I don't know why Dell would have something up on their support page like this though - I wonder if Apple knows.

EDIT: Found this on the OSXx86 homepage - looks like a messup on Dell's part. Also this from Engadget.

How is purchasing a license and using it on your own hardware illegal?

This is really screwy, but the idea is you are buying a license based on an agreement that you are going to use it on a apple computer.

I read somewhere that dell is trying to ship their computer with OSX as an option, so I thought maybe Apple accepted this...

a license is just that... a license. it is permission to use their software (that you do not own, you have merely licensed it) by the company according to their rules. just like a driver's license is permission from the state allowing you to drive on public roads but you can lose your license if you break the rules.

sorry, just like the other osx86 thread, gotta close this one.

the subject matter is a no-no.
