Hello, I used Acronis True Image to make a backup of the recovery drive of my M1330 and burned it on DVDs. I want to delete the recovery partition from my notebook but in the case I want to restore the computer to its factory setting, how do I use the Acronis Image to bring the recovery partition back and restore the computer to factory setting?
Thanks in advance for the help.![]()

You would basically do the restore version of what you just did. It is only going to restore the d: partition however, so if that is not bootable it is not going to get you that far. You may, in other words, have to reinstall vista first. If you have a bigger hard drive, I would recommend doing an image of the entire PC. It would make it a lot easier to recover in the future.

So you mean I have to reinstall vista to make the d: partition bootable? I could do an entire image of my PC but that would take more DVDs. I heard that sometimes data are not perfectly copied to DVDs, especially for large files. So does that mean the image that I burn will have defects?

no, I am just saying that if the d partition is not bootable itself, restoring the image would not necessarily give you a usable point of recovery. It doesn't mean that you are a fool for doing the image. I just would recommend imaging the entire hdd if you are looking for a hassle free restore. You can always just make a backup of the D partition if you are looking to set that aside and make it available later.

Sorry, I'm not very good at this. How to check or make the image of the d: partition bootable?

Wow, +rep to wdro.
Any changes to the partition sizes on the notebook renders the recovery utility useless (such as my dual-boot config). It has always annoyed me that I pretty much had a useless 10GB partition that I couldn't do anything with but couldn't delete as it is still under warranty. Now I can image then wipe it and then use it as my temp directory for image/music/video editing software.
Made a copy of the recovery D drive using Acronis true Image
