I'm quite surprised that Dell haven't made any SB laptop announcements yet (I don't count Alienware).

Does this mean the rumoured overhang of existing i7/i5 chips was true and not just media spin?

Anyway I hope that this extra time means that Dell will have a very good offering....

    2820QM
1080p RGBLED (3D would be nice, 1200p would be very nice)
    6GB DDR-3
    Blu-Ray
At least 500GB 7200rpm HD, optional 256GB+ SSD.

Decent discrete graphics switchable using a hardware switch, a lot of us use Linux these days and not being able to use discrete graphics in a laptop would be a major detractor unless the Intel offering is at least as good as say a NVidia 240GT.

If the case looked as nice as the M1530 I'd be very pleased.

Dammit. The Optimus thingy does not work in Linux? And a hardware switch is not very likely?

I'd like to see precisely this:

    Dell Latitude E6520
    Sandy Bridge i5/i7
    2/4/6/8 GB DDR3
    Decently-priced Blu-Ray option
    15.6" <s>1366x768</s>/1600x900/1920x1080/ 2048x1152 display options
graphics card way better than the NVS 3100m

    ah well, one can dream
