    Who makes Dell's laptops?

I apologize if this has been asked/answered before. I couldn't find the information anywhere.

I'm hesitant to ask because I just purchased an Inspiron 6000 last night, and I'm afraid of how much money I could have saved by waiting for the answer to this query.

    Thanks!

what did you get and how much did you spend?

dollars to donuts, it's hard to overpay on dell's systems when applying discounts/coupons/etc.

Yup. Dell buys parts from other companies.

Here's a great thread with info about what Brands Dell uses on laptops:

    I got the 6000 with a 1.6GHz Pentium M, 512 MB of RAM, 128 MB X300, 60 GB 7200 RPM HDD, DVD-ROM, and internal b/g wireless.

I used their $750 coupon and got it for $1256 with tax and free shipping.

And thanks, Yassarian, that's the answer I was looking for. I looked at several discount laptop vendors, but I just couldn't beat the price of a Dell with the coupon for what I was after.
