Manufacturing Plants of DELL

I dont know if such a thread already exists here and if so it may be locked.... Anyway I wanted to know out of curiosity that at which places DELL has manufacturing plants.... I know one exists in Malaysia and some three or four in parts of America.... Can you list them all here in this thread.... This would be quite informative to know....

 

Europe: Lodz, Poland (in construction) and Limerick, Ireland

 

Isn't there a plant in mainland China as well?

 

Just recently opened in india but it manufactures only dell dektop.

Just to clarify, the actual manufacturing plants where the systems are initially built are not owned by Dell. For example, those systems built in Malaysia are built alongside lenovo, Acer, Apple and HP laptops. All the laptops are manufactured in the same facility with very little differecne in many parts.

A good example is the motherboard which is exactly the same amongst differing manufacturers except for the company stamp being put on ther part either through hardware or software.

As for Dell, once the systems are built (in Malaysia in my case), the bare bones system is then sent to Texas where they have OSD imaging, software, final inspection and boxing...

 

Assembly plants:

Limerick, Ireland
Penang, Malaysia
Xiamen, China

 

So there is one in China, hopefully if I do order a 1520 online I won't have major delays on it.

 

btw, the factory in China serves the Asia-pacific region.
Ireland plant serves the European market IIRC. Rest are assembled (laptops) in Malaysia.

 

That's not entirely true. Dell Malaysia only assembles Dell products.

It should be noted that the video applies to desktops. I think the situation is different for laptops.

My understanding, based on articles I have read as opposed to personal experience, is that laptops, and this applies to about 90% of all the laptops sold in every country in the world by all the brands, are all made by Quanta, Compal, Wistron, Inventec, Asustek, and other ODM's in their factories around Shenzen in China. In the case of Dell, they are shipped to dell's final assembly plants in Malaysia, Ireland, Poland and USA, where they are configured (add RAM, software, etc). Whatever the "Made in..." label says, I would say that is the country where they were configured, not made.

Apparently, in the case of some brands (but not Dell), the laptops are never touched by the company whose badge is on the bezel. They are shipped directly to the retailer's distribution center by the ODM. Again, in the case of some brands, but apparently not Dell, the laptops are increasingly designed and engineered by the ODM according to the OEM's specs.
