How many manufacturing plants does Dell have? Or are they forwarded to be manufactured by Asus? Are there any plants in Asia?

I know there are 2. One in Irland for the European market and one in Malysia for the North American market. There might be more , I am pretty sure there are more.

The is where the laptops are assembled. The barebones come from Taiwan and China, the CPU from various Intel or AMD plants and the hard disk, LCDs from all over.

Not all DELL notebooks are made by Asus, from what i've read Compal makes more models for DELL than Asus. And there maybe other manufacturers like Clevo too.

I was assembling Dell notebooks back in 2000 and 2001 in Austin. Keep in mind our whole group were a bunch of novices off the streets, kept for temp purposes.

I suppose they've completely reorganized their manufacturing model since then.

Its just funny how things change like that.

AFAIK, they still assemble high end servers and stuff in Texas...but most of the machines ordered from the States are built in Malaysia and Dell has a chartered 747 bring them all over everyday to Nashville.
