Has anyone worn down the palm rest on their 1530? I wonder if this is even possible. All of my previous modes get the wear down mark and was just curious what to expect with this one since its metal.

I don't think it will happen, the M1530's brushed aluminium palmrest can't have the paint wear down, as there isn't any paint on it.

I do clean my palmrest so no crap gets stuck in the brush marks.

I read on here somewhere where the oils from your skin may leave marks but you think it can be wiped off with the cloth that came with it...

My other Dells seemed to have the plastic wear down. It would smooth out, ended up looking like crap!

I dont think the manufacturers actually PAINT the palmrests. But it still wears down, simply because your palms make contact with it too much or something. I dunno.

    Just like, for example:

Keys on ur keyboard aren't painted black, surely? But yet they, too, wear down. If you've seen your keyboard turn shiny and 'greasy' it's not actually grease (unless it is -- u should know if it is) but usually wear. When you type excessively on your keyboard, the surface dissolves away and the stuff underneath is all shiny. It happens to all keyboards over time. =P

All I'm wondering is if the brushed metal will wear... I usually throw a sticky note on the palm rest prophylactically to prevent wear, but I would rather not.
