6:10:30 AM System Your chat session will begin shortly.
6:12:10 AM System Praveen Gururajan has joined this session.
6:12:10 AM System Connected with Praveen Gururajan

6:12:40 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Thank you for contacting Dell Customer Service Chat. My name is Praveen. How may I help you?
6:13:20 AM (Bob Rob) Hi Praveen. I'm checking on my order, which has a estimated ship date of Aug 18.
6:13:45 AM (Praveen Gururajan) What is your order number?
6:14:45 AM (Bob Rob) It is xxx-xxx-xxx
6:14:46 AM (Praveen Gururajan) tfv Thanks for that information. I will look it up now.
6:16:20 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Yes, I see the order. Inspiron 1721, 2 GB RAM, etc?
6:17:00 AM (Bob Rob) Yes that is the one.
    6:17:10 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Pink?!?!?
6:17:20 AM (Bob Rob) Yes, it is for the wife's birthday, which was 2 weeks ago, I might add.
6:17:30 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Right. So how can I help you with this order?
6:18:10 AM (Bob Rob) The estimated ship date is Aug 18.
6:18:25 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Yes, that is correct.
6:19:00 AM (Bob Rob) Today is Aug 31.
6:19:30 AM (Praveen Gururajan) tfv Thanks for that information. I will look it up now.
6:20:20 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Yes, that is correct, today is Aug 31.
6:20:50 AM (Bob Rob) August 31 is AFTER Aug 18. My computer is still in "build" stage.
6:21:20 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Ah. Yes, I see that now. Thank you.
6:22:20 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Dell still believes that the Aug 18 ship date is correct.
6:22:45 AM (Bob Rob) Uh.. but Aug 18 has passed already, and it hasn't shipped.
6:23:20 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Yes, that is true.
6:23:40 AM (Bob Rob) But you still believe it will ship on Aug 18? Which is 13 days in the past.
6:24:20 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Yes, and Dell appreciates your patience in this matter.
6:25:10 AM (Bob Rob) It isn't possible to ship something in the past.
6:26:10 AM (Praveen Gururajan) tfv Thanks for that information. I will look it up now.
6:27:10 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Yes, usually you would be correct. It is normally not possible to ship something in the past.
6:27:35 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Dell believes that we can still ship your order on time on Aug 18.
6:28:20 AM (Bob Rob) ... wtf???
6:28:45 AM (Bob Rob) Einstein's theory of special relativity says that you can't possibly ship it on the Aug 18.
6:30:00 AM (Praveen Gururajan) This is not entirely true. Dell has purchased the Texas Supercollider facility in Waxahachie TX.
6:30:40 AM (Bob Rob) Yeah, so? Supercolliders don't allow time travel...
6:31:45 AM (Praveen Gururajan) We believe the facility can be used to induce quantum tunnelling.
6:32:15 AM (Bob Rob) Quantum tunnelling?
6:32:40 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Yes, quantum tunnelling can allow photons to move faster than the normal speed of light.
6:33:10 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Dell believes this can be adapted to ship entire lines of notebooks like the Inspiron before they are built or in some cases, even conceived.
6:35:00 AM (Praveen Gururajan) I understand and appreciate that this is confusing from a customer perspective.
6:35:50 AM (Bob Rob) A bit of an understatement. If this is true, then why don't I already have my laptop, since it shipped in the past?
6:36:20 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Faster than light travel doesn't break the law of causality. We still have to SEND it. Duh.
6:37:20 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Since I can tell you are concerned, I will give you an upgrade to free Previous Business Day shipping.
6:37:50 AM (Bob Rob) Uh, thanks, I guess?
6:38:00 AM (Praveen Gururajan) yaw You are welcome.
6:38:10 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Is there anything else I can assist you with on this order?
    6:38:25 AM (Bob Rob) No...
6:39:00 AM (Praveen Gururajan) Thank you for choosing Dell! Have a nice day!

    OK,
    a) Yes, I am a geek
    b) I have too much time on my hands (waiting on my laptop)
    c) before you go off about the name "Praveen Gururajan", know that the name is a composite of two good friends of mine, both of whom I asked permission.

I actually believed the chat was true until I saw the comments below it. I've had some chats with CSRs that sounded something like that!

It is a big facility about 60 miles around that can smash atoms into each other. I read about the one in Texas on Wikipedia (which is the sum of my knowledge).

They can apparently build one a lot faster than they can build a Dell laptop.

(Hey, at is either humor, or driving to Austin with big weapons... I'll pick humor .. for now...)
