so i'm reading about how the media buttons stop working after a resume and how the eject button stays on.

i have been testing something and would like others to try this out. follow me here:
i notice the eject button light stays on when i close the lid and then pull the usb cable out (connected to a Dell 24" widescreen with usb port which connects: 2 mouse and 2 printers and a external drive).
*IF* i disconnect the usb first and wait for the full disconnect sound and THEN close lid, the eject button doesn't light up.

i'm thinking... and it could be completely wong here but the eject button might have something to do with shut down and boot up of usb devices and is going though some sort of a systems check?? why? i dunno. it's been rather sporatic but i head to class 4x's a week and i shut down differently and i have experienced different results. testing a few things out.

can some here try and report back the results? thanks!

When I resume from sleep on my Studio it usually cycles through the ejection three times and then stops. I removed my USB devices and it only did it once on resume from sleep. You may have found something.

hum... more interesting finding. apparently even the pci-e slot also causes the eject button to light up.

if you take it out after shutdown and boot up w.o the card, the button lights up. not sure what else. it might be a "check sum" error of what's connected.

and i think i just confirmed it.

i got out of class earlier (yeah, saturday classes SUCK.. especially starting at 9:30am) and i took the CF card (with adapter) out. just booted her up and well well well.. the eject light is on and the buttons are not functioning yet. i have to wait a bit and it'll start working again.

similar response when i left for class i unplugged the USB devices and booted her up... eject is lit.

god i hate replying to my own thread with no responses but i just recycled the close lid and resume on vista home.

the eject button is not on. nothing attached or removed.

i think this might solve the eject light staying on when you resume.

I'm a bit dense, what do you mean by recycling the close lid?

i closed the lid and resumed from sleep. a re-cycle would have been a bit less nebulous

sometimes my eject button goes 'wild' and tries to eject a couple of times when i resume from standby (aprox 3 times or so)
