I am looking at getting a E1505, however is there a way to delete the media center partition without messing XP media center?

When you say '...media center partition', do you mean MediaDirect???

If so, MediaDirect is not in a partition, it is in a special, reserved area of the hard drive call a host-protected area.

If you can find the right software, there are ways to delete it and it won't impact the function of XP MCE...

My suggestion would be to not try and mess with it....
