Hi. First post. Not bothering with a welcome topic, but oh well. :p

So, I may or may not be a huge idiot, but early on in the life of my Studio 15, I uninstalled Dell MediaDirect since I have Windows Media Player and never used it. Now, I recently aquired The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray. I know my laptop can play Blu-Ray discs (since I paid for the upgrade :S), but now when I pop it in, it's not playing. It opens Windows Media Player when I click "Play", but it doesn't show up in WMP at all. Now I'm thinking maybe I needed MediaDirect to play Blu-Ray movies? Am I screwed until I can reinstall MediaDirect? Or is there something else I'm missing regarding playing Blu-Ray stuff?

Screwed until you either install Media Direct or another BluRay software player like WinDVD or PowerDVD.

Vista doesn't have native BluRay playback support.

If your system comes with Cyberlink 7.0, this should work with your bluray disc. Also, Media Direct 4.0 supports bluray playback(MD4.0 uses cyberlink to play bluray).

mediadirect nor windows media center will play the latest blurays like dark knight and ironman. I had to install cyberlink powerdvd to watch blurray movies.

MD 4 does support Blu-Ray playback. The problem is that updates that enable it to play the latest titles are few and far between. I gave up on it and bought ArcSoft Total Theater. Much better Blu-Ray support. The ArcSoft product also integrates with Media Center.
