    Hey there.

Don't worry, I read most of the threads conerning this but none seems to explain how to do this.

I left my MD3.0 partition intact after my reinstallation of WINXP. That said, now when I press my media direct button nothing appears... So I inserted my MD3 reinstallation disc in XP and says it's already installed... I booted with the cd in and it's saying like create a paritition for MD3.0..I don't want to create a new one I already have one... I just want to enable it..

    Thanks for the help.

XP does not support Media Center. XP Media Center Edition does.

There is some Media Center Experience??? CD or something you can get from Dell to support the Media Direct button when in XP Pro.

It does, sort of. You just need some additional thing. I think it's called Media Center Experience. It's a small add-on.

I never use the Media Direct button, so, I'm not that concerned.

Ahzuz, did that windowsmd3 installation work for you? If not, did you find another solution?

I reformatted my new 6400 this weekend. I used the Dell MediaDirect v3 disk to "Prepare" my harddrive. Then I loaded Windows XP Pro. Then I used the MediaDirect disk again, as per the instructions, to load the software. It said my disk is not prepared.

I can see the 2Gb partition in the disk manager and it's even labelled for MediaDirect. But I can't get the darn software to load.

I answered my own question. I went into the windowsmd3 folder on the MediaDirect disk and successfully installed the MediaDirect v3 software. However, there was still a problem booting directly into MediaDirect while the computer was turned off. I got the NTLDR boot error. I could have fixed that. But instead, I decided to play around with the MediaDirect v3 software for a while.

I decided I don't like it. I rarely ever watch movies on my computer, and when I do I'd rather use WinDVD anyway. I also have other software I'd rather use for listening to music. My computer boots up very quickly, so booting into MediaDirect wouldn't save much time.

Therefore, I reformatted my HD, created just one partition and re-installed Windows XP Pro. I loaded my own favorite software, skipped all the Dell junk and I'm quite happy.

Everyone needs to understand that installing MediaDirect 3 requires TWO discs. The MediaDirect 3 reinstallation DVD AND the Cyberlink PowerDVD 9.0 reinstallation disc.

When do you get the "NTLDR is missing" error ? When booting regular XP or MD with MD button ?
