    Hello All,

I'd like to fix this problem before Monday if possible. I tried booting into Media Direct yesterday after a long time (about 5 months, didn't need to use it over summer) and for whatever reason, it no longer works. It just shows the Dell Media Direct graphic, then goes to a black screen with white lettering (similar to all lower level OS prompts like the boot screen) saying that the boot into this section did not work (or something like that, can't remember the exact wording), and it gave me two options: either delete all temporary files or to restart the boot process to see if that would work. Does anyone know what is going on? I tried upgrading to MD 3.3 (I clicked update inside MD in Vista and it took me to the exe file to update), updated, but it still didn't work. I'm running BIOS A07 on a 1520. Is there a possible BIOS conflict with it?

    Thanks.

What makes this urgent? Media Direct is useless.

Also found Media Direct sorely lacking compared to lets say VMC w/latest Media Center TV Pack 2008. Didn't even bother to reinstall Dell software when I upgraded to x64 Ultimate...

What makes this urgent is that I'm taking a bus ride on Monday and I'd like it to be fixed by Monday if possible. I looked up the Media Center RV Pack 2008, but I'm only looking for something that will play videos with low battery consumption and quicker boot times (i.e. Media Direct). So if anyone has any fixes for MD, that would be great.

MD doesn't really have that low of battery consumption. You'd be much better off undervolting with RMclock and disabling wireless/BT to get better battery life. As for boot times, just hibernate.

If you're super set on fixing it, the answer is going to be to reinstall it with the MD CD, which will also require you to install Windows again.

From within Windows, first uninstall the MediaDirect application from the Control Panel.

    Insert your MediaDirect Install Disc

Run the installer again and reinstall MediaDirect.

Give this a try before wiping and starting fresh.
