    Hey folks,

I realize there was a recent problem with the Roxio DVD software (some sort of "Dec 1 2006" bug) that was preventing me from playing DVDs in both Windows Media Center and Mediadirect. I downloaded the patch from Dell yesterday, and I can now play DVDs just fine in Windows.

However, Mediadirect still won't play DVDs. By that I mean regular Region 1 DVDs rented from a video store. Mediadirect loads from power-off when I push the MD button, and it brings up the blue MD menu, but when I click DVD it just gives me an hourglass for a few seconds. Then the hourglass goes away, I'm looking at the menu - no DVD playback.

I was thinking of using the MD repair utility - but isn't that only for fixing it so MD loads/starts properly, as opposed to actual DVD functionality once it is running?

Be careful. The repair utility is only for MD 2.0, not 3.0

What software do you have installed to play DVDs? You DVD decoder might not be compatible with MD.

Hm - not sure, I guess whatever came with the laptop (which I was assuming would work with MD) :)
