It could be the same, try installing AutoHotKey and then saving the code I posted to a file called wmp.ahk. Double click the file, and if WMP comes up when you press the button, then you're in luck. :D

If not, I could probably help you through the steps to find your media direct key's ID.

Did you have to do anything to make the button NOT load MD? Or do you just not have it installed?

MD stopped launching when I pressed the button while windows was booted (still worked when the system was off, though) after I swapped the HDD from my original 1520 into the replacement they sent me. After over an hour on the phone with tech support I was told that the media direct button is not supposed to do anything when Windows is already on.

hm, id rather you try and help me find the number for the button so that it isn't some other button that i use and then i wouldn't know how to undo it. i know it wouldn't be anything like enter or escape since all keyboards have the same numbers for those, escape being 1 i believe.

All you have to do to undo the hotkey script is restart the computer.

i had the same thing happen. if you don't want media direct, you can just format over the media direct partition. this stopped both from opening for me. it also made it so the media direct key also works as a power on button.

This reminds me of the media buttons on my 6000... when I adjust the volume with the hotkeys when playing Counter-Strike, it counts as the "b" button and my buy menu pops up. I think I'll look into getting it to buy my packages. :p

Try removing Dell Quickset off your computer.

hey, tex. you can also use the task manager to undo scripts. just look for the name of the script and stop it. this saved me from a lot of restarts when messing around with writing scripts! word.
