So I just received a new 640m less than a week ago, and love it except for one relatively minor but seriously annoying issue. I'm very into music and will hopefully soon be using this laptop as a part of my guitar rig, but it has been having problems playing songs from the laptop. It does fine for most of the song, but when it gets to about 80% of the way through it stops playing the song for 2-5 seconds, then continues on. This occurs with three different media players and when I'm streaming music over the internet and when I'm playing media direct from the hard drive. I reinstalled the drivers for the audio card and that didn't solve the problem.

I'd really like to have this taken care of, but otherwise the computer is functioning perfectly. Has anyone else heard of an issue like this occurring? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Came across this tip on here a few weeks ago, don't remember who posted it,
but it solved my problem on the Inspiron E1405.

    * Vista-only: If your sound card is crackling or having audio glitching (especially towards the end of tracks!), right-click on the Speaker icon in the system tray, select Playback Devices, right-click Speakers in that new dialog, go to Properties, then go to Enhancements - choose "Disable All Enhancements" and you should be fixed up. If this does fix you up, check with your sound card vendor - they should not be having this problem. I believe Dell/Sigmatel do have a driver update here that should fix you up.

    Hope this helps

Awesome, thanks so much. I know I have the most recent driver, but I'll give this a shot and let you know.
