    Hi,
I've got this new laptop with vista basic and the MD was working great until I installed the Disk Director Suite 10. to create a new partition. i've re sized the C and created another one named it Z.
after that i cannot access the MediaDirect from the home button on the keyboard without booting vista. once clicked it opens the MD then starts vista.
any ideas on what i have to do? yes i do have the MD CD from Dell?
can i simply reinstall it without reinstalling the vista or without changing any other partitions?
I'm thankful for your help. :)

New laptop with Vista Basic? What Dell Laptop do you have?

Anyways, you have to mess up your partitions. What you have to do boot up with Dell MD CD to create the partition for MediaDirect, then insert Vista CD to do install, then after Vista is installed and you boot into Vista, you insert MD CD again to install mediadirect. Then it will work.

So in other words, yes you have to redo everything. Your poll is not really accurate. Mediadirect is an AWESOME feature, I love it. Though I never use it, I'm sure it will come in handy some day one way or another.

When you first insert the Media Direct CD to make the partition, it already reformats everything before you put the Vista CD in. You have to format. A repair won't do it. The current partitions will be completely erased. You can select whether you want the Mediadirect to be on the same partition as Windows, or you can specify you want two partitions with the MD CD that you insert.

Installation of Windows comes after when you insert your Vista CD. Like I said before, after installation, you have to reinsert the MD disc after you install windows, and it will finish the installation process. You may want to back everything up beforehand obviously. :)

Hi, I got it when i first bought the computer, it came with the laptop, listen, make sure to back up everything on an external harddisk or on dvds before you reinstall MD because it will format and will delete all your partitions I repeate all your partitions will be deleted,
as for the cd i think you can order it from online.
