As i posted in the M1730 thread i recently took delivery of my new notebook.

I have been having some issues with it, one of which was constant "hard locking" and general lackluster performance (installing things took ages, copying files also took an age).

Well yesterday i tried the "MediaDirect" button which boots the system into the MediaDirect "OS". After the initial set-up it seemed to run fine, until i came to "Exit" and shut the system down. It hung (not hard lock but HDD activity stoped and it just sat there). So i had to force reset.

Now nither OS will boot anymore. I tried "Startup Recovery" and repairing the startup files ~ nothing. The system seems to boot up (the LCD panel on the keyboard lights up) but then all HDD activity stops and it just sits there......

Has anyone else tried this button?? Im calling DELL to get a replacement (with altered spec) but im wondering what will happen on the replacement when i try the MediaDirect Button of Death.....

Did you try starting using the Media Direct button again? I had an issue where I used the Media Direct to boot and got a blue screen. I had to hit the button again before the full Vista would boot up. Hitting the power button just went to the blue screen every time.
