    Hi,

I have recently developed a tiny simple application that allows to easily assign and configure actions to the MediaDirect button.

At the moment there are two events to which actions could be assigned:
    - press (short press)
    - press and hold for a specified amount of time (long press, default interval is 2 sec)

Configuration is done by editing the configuration file. Changes take effect immediately, there is no need to restart.

Fully supports Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit).

I'm currently considering adding of the following features depending on the demand:
    - predefined actions such as turning off display, power plans switching, etc.
    - configuration GUI

Feedback and donations are highly appreciated. :)

    Download MediaDirectButton Version 1.0.1

Consider me a huge fan of this! Maybe you should consider a GUI'd way to modify the ini file.

Does the XPS 17 have a media direct button?

I tried the 'instant launch' button but I can't get it to work.

No, XPS 15/17 doesn't come with Media Direct button, but they do come with that customizable button between the sound and windows mobile button.

I can add support for that button in the next version.
Could anyone provide me with the key code?
Anyway I'll try to find out.

Perfect! I'd been unsuccessfully trying to code something for the same purpose, for sometime now.. :p
    Good work, and very useful!

That'd be nice, it already has some predefined options but they are quite limited. How do you find the keycode?

Not much in the way of instructions.

What is needed to have the long press actually start MediaDirect?

And will MediaDirect (I think I have v3.something installed in its own partition after Win7 Ultimate) still load when the MediaDirect button is pushed from the power off condition?
