    Is it just me....????

Some of my commercial DVDs will not play in MediaDirect. The interface acts as though it is playing, but I just get a black screen w/o any audio...

This is not the case on ALL commercial DVDs so I expect this is something to do with copy protection method used.

fwiw.... PowerDVD from Windows works fine with my 'problem' DVDs

    Thanks

ps On second thought.... It appears that this behavior is related to the DVD menu structure and it's getting 'hung-up' prior to the title menu.

For ones that give you trouble, use Video Lan player or VLC. It works very well and is compact.

    Thanks....

I've also read good things about VLC.... My problem is from within MediaDirect 2.0. No choices there.... only Power DVD.

It is definitely a menu structure problem from PowerDVD's point of view. It can't get along with the various 'must-play' FBI warning screens et al....
