I had a similar problem. The screen would keep reading DISK ERROR PRESS ANY KEY TO RESTART over and over. At first it did it with just the media direct, then it happened when I tried to book up Vista. I just had to format and do anothr clean install o solve the problem. A bit of a pain in the a$$, but it works fine now.

Its not properly installed, or has files missing.

Did you reinstall your system? If so you need to load the MD disc first, then install the OS, then install MD again.

If you havent rebuilt and its just suddenyl happened, seems like its missing some files. Try reinstalling it within the OS.

MediaDirect is such a joke. Wipe it off and forget it about it.

The only time I ever use Media Direct is when I want to watch a BluRay movie. Even then its usually in the OS as then I have the option of watching the movie as normal, or watching it in a smaller window while I do somet else.

Windows 32bit does not play back BluRay - its unsupported unless you have a 64bit OS. PowerDVD Ultra kept freezing every 10 mins when watching a BluRay. Hence I tried MD and it works perfectly.

I wouldnt have used it otherwise, but I can see how it could be handy to some people. For me, if it wasnt the fact that it plays BluRay flawlessly, I wouldnt have bothered with it either.

No. At first, it worked correctly. but now, it doesn't load (just crash in loading page) :(
I should hold the power key and press the MediaDirect key instead of power key to boot in vista (just for first time after the crashing)

It is worth a shoot to try this:

I found a way to get my Media Direct to work again!
    1. Start from power off,
    2. Push the Media Direct button.
    3. From the "Dell Media Direct" boot screen, hit F8
    4. You now have the message: "System restart has been paused:
    Continue with system restart
Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu"

Select the option to Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu
    5. Wait until it finishes booting

I found this solution deep in the Dell Community archives.

    Good luck

I just want to clarify that I am referring to the Media Direct boot screen not WinXp's. In fact of this fix is done entirely outside of Windows with Windows not running at all. It has been a while since I performed this fix but it has been fool proof for me in the past.
