Well the question is pretty much in the title, i wanted to know if it was possible to modify my i9300's configuartion to be able to use mediadirect the same way the 9400 is advertised to be able to do. Which is boot MCE2005 without actually booting windows, this would be great since i watch many movies on the run... it would extend battery life.
The program they offer for the 9300 only enables one to press the play/pause button, and that it will boot windows, then boot the media center, but what's the point of that? I'm having trouble understanding how a 35mb program turns out to be only enabling a hotkey...
Thank you!

l am pretty sure it doesn't boot MCE2005 by itself; l think it's a version of linux that supports music, photo, dvd, etc..playback.

Media direct boots Dell's Media Experience, not MCE. Unfortunately, this is only avaliable for the new core duo systems because they have the newest version of Media Direct.
There is the possibility that if you could get the Media Direct cd from dell (newest version), then you might be able to set up your system like the 9400. I don't think Media Direct is dependent on core duo, so to me it would make sense that you could install it on the 9300. Yet you have to create a partition and do alot of work to get it that way. -

So would anyone possibly know information that could help me set it up?

If you are talking about the possibility of media direct booting up without windows, here is how to do it on the E1705 series:

I really do not know if it will work, so you probably have to experiement around with it.
