when my laptop is off and i press my media direct button it boots up media direct no problem i can play music and stuff but as soon as i close my lid the music stops... isn't the purpose of the media direct button to play music with lid closed ?

It's most likely because of your power settings. Right click the desktop, select properties, screensaver tab, and click the power button. Click on the Advanced tab under the power settings and make sure under where it says (When I close the lid of my computer) is set to (Do Nothing)

    NOT IN WINDOWS!

I'm not in windows when I do that... and WANT the lid to go in stand by when I close the lid in windows but not in media direct. Not sure if you know what i mean.

Chill, Media Direct still boots off Windows, it just has a hibernating partition..
The Windows setting may have some effect on it.

Actually it is a standard windows install. Just stripped down and customized for Media Direct. If you mount the partition from linux then you will see what I mean. I took a look at the files and it appeared to be a standard install and not WinPE.
