I used the Autosearch function to load music into the Mediadirect database...

Unfortunately, it loaded bunches of music files from Encarta, some from games and various other places...how do I remove those from the database so they don't display under 'All Songs'? (And the 0kb, 500kb, 1000kb display filter function setting within Mediadirect doesn't seem to work too well...)

Also, how do you clear the 'Recent Files' list?

I found the entries under [RECENTAUDIO] in the Settings.ini file, but when I delete and save, they just reappear...

Also, there are .ini files in the C:\MDT folder...I suspect these maintain the settings for Mediadirect when you boot straight into it...

And there are also .ini files in C:\Program Files\Dell\Mediadirect which I believe are associated with the Mediadirect application when you press the button inside Windows...

I'm more concerned with the boot application since I always use Windows Media Player for my multimedia needs when I boot into XP...

    Thanks for the help.

    Stumbled across the answer...

Mediadirect uses/manipulates the same database as Windows MediaPlayer 11...

When I performed the autosearch in MediaDirect, it also loaded all the .wav and .mp3 files from various games on my hard drive into Windows MediaPlayer...

When I removed them from the MediaPlayer library, they were also removed from MediaDirect...

*scratching head* I would have figured that the two media programs used independent databases...

Still don't know how to clear the 'Recent Music' in MediaDirect, but that's no big deal to me...

There was something unnerving about going from CD music to game music when shuffling...

And all of the above is true going into MediaDirect from XP...however, going to MediaDirect without booting the XP OS gives me an entirely different set of music...I'll have to figure out where that database is...maybe on the MediaDirect partition...I wish Dell would give the low down on how MediaDirect is configured...what exactly is on that MediaDirect partition? And what is available in MediaDirect without booting into XP? The documentation is extremely lacking...
