Yea, I read the posts from earlier today and kept wondering why people were saying the Inspiron was so much cheaper and was a better deal. I just kept twiddling the ol' thumbs. :p

    daabc,

I know, the 1400 is also a good buy. I just wanted the slightly bigger screen because I like to use it to watch movies on the laptop.

I went to the dell kiosk yesterday to look and feel at the Inspiron 1520 and 1420.

They look the same to me.

Wow. I just bought a vostro w/t7300 santa rosa, xp, 1 gig 667mhz ram (which I will later upgrade myself to 2 gigs), and 8400m gs for under 800 bucks.

Actually i'm thinking about getting the base vostro 1400 with the bluetooth and webcam option.

That would get me a dual core with a graphics card.

I know the 8400 is not the most powerful gpu, but i don't really play any graphics demanding games. This laptop would be mainly use to do school work and surf on the net. The 9 cell upgrade should boost laptop life to almost 4 hours (i'm estimating).

The bluetooth would help with presentations and the webcam is just for fun.

This would bring the cost to about $650

I would originally thinking about getting a sager as a desktop replacement for around $1300. But at this price, I can buy a desktop and a portable laptop.
