I ordered my M1530 a few days ago, but only outfitted it with 1GB of RAM. I wanna go ahead and buy 2GB from newegg.com, but I'm not sure exactly what I need. Do I need 1GB sticks or will one 2GB stick work? I wanna go ahead and order the RAM now so it's here before the laptop. Don't wanna get the new lappy and have only 1GB of RAM in it while I wait on the memory to be delivered. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

Or you could call Dell and have them change your specs to 2GB instead of 1GB, but only if you ordered recently.

Why people don't do that is because Dell's RAM is largely overpriced.

The most efficient thing to do these days is order with a single DIMM of 1GB RAM and put in another 1GB yourself.

well it depends on ur FSB:MEM ratio if its less than one to one i think it would be best to have two sticks with same speed and sizes meaning 2x1gb or 2x2gb and dell overcharges +200% i bought 4gb for 180 at new egg but at dell price it is $400!!!

Does Dell give you the option to order w/1 stick of RAM? I thought all their options came in pairs or is it something you have to call and specially request?
