    hi,
I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 with 512 MB. Want to find out if it consists of 1 stick of 512MB or 2 sticks of 256MB WITHOUT opening the laptop. Any suggestions ? Thanks.

There are many programs that will do this, but a quick and easy one that requires no installation is CPUz available here

Simply unzip the package, run the application and once it's loaded switch to the "SPD" tab. You'll see a drop down box on the top left which identifies each available bank, and when you switch between them you'll get a screen of information on the RAM installed in that bank.

    Hope that helps
