Gents,
I have decided to upgrade the memory in my m1530 from 2Gb -ยป4Gb.
Had a quick look at Crucial and they recommend two
4Gb (2X2gb) DDR2-667

or
4Gb (2X2gb) DDR2-800 (does it take this?)

Should I for one of these or can you suggest another (UK)?
Thanks,
Karl

I think you should upgrade

Get DDR2 667Mhz. Intelchipsets support only up to that speed if it is higher (800mhz) it will downclock to 667 Mhz

I have the Crucial 4GB 667MHz kit in my 1700. Works fine.
There's no real need to go for 800MHz as the Crestline chipset only supports 667MHz max but you mat benefit from slightly better timings when running 800MHz RAM at 667MHz. In reality you'll probably only notice a slight increase in memory benchmarks rather than any real world benefit. -
thanks......................... I will go for the 667.

Sorry, a further question. Does replacing the memory affect my warranty in any way??
Thanks again,

It wont affect ur warranty.....DELL will just wont provide warranty for the new parts tht ull add......which I doubt will be a big deal....as most RAMs comes with lifetime warranty.....if ur looking for performence go for 667MHz with lower CL timing like 4.........they dont cost much...hav a look at the link...
