    Get DDR2 667Mhz. Intelchipsets support only up to that speed if it is higher (800mhz) it will downclock to 667 Mhz

    I have the Crucial 4GB 667MHz kit in my 1700. Works fine.

    There's no real need to go for 800MHz as the Crestline chipset only supports 667MHz max but you mat benefit from slightly better timings when running 800MHz RAM at 667MHz. In reality you'll probably only notice a slight increase in memory benchmarks rather than any real world benefit.
