I installed vista on my XPS m1210 and memory usage go over 80% easily (even without norton antivirus ... I am using AVG free)

So I am thinking of upgrading my memory to 1.5GB or 2GB.

    I currently have 512mb*2.

Upgrading to 1.5GB means that I'll have to use one 512mb stick from DELL and another memory stick from newegg. Does anyone know if this (mixing memory sticks) would cause problems?

Also, can anyone recommend some memory sticks from new eggs? Thanks a lot :)

Also, I am planning to give my 512mb sticks to my friend so that she could upgrade to vista too. Does my 512mb sticks work in HP DV2000t?

    is the
    " CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Notebook Memory"
    a good choice?

Anyone using this memory? Can you please tell me your experience with it? THanks

    Can anyone please help?
I am having a hard time deciding between Crucial and Corsair.

Seems like crucial has a higher price but better quality...

Sorry for the long wait! ;)

I am assuming you are looking at the sets of RAM below. Keep in mind there is also the G.SKILL RAM. I have heard good things about there desktop RAM so they are probably also worth considering.

As for which to choose I don't think any of them would be a bad bet. Although the Corsair has a higher latency, it is also the ones that runs at the fastest speed. Also, some people have said that while the value RAM is good, it is the higher end Corsair RAM that has them known for RAM. With that said, I would probably lean towards either the G.SKILL or the Crucial because of the better timing, which are important as to how fast the RAM will be. Both have positive reviews, but the G.SKILL actually costs less then the Crucial and Corsair so you could save some money too. It looks like people have put it into Dell laptops as well. For that price, I may be looking into it as well! :) Hope that helps a bit!

Any of them should suit you fine, I've used G.skill ram in the past and have had no trouble whatsoever, purchasing the ram in kit form does have a few advantages over just using random sticks. The kits are matched pairs, they perform exaclty the same with no subtle differences which used to be a must for proper dual channel operation, its not as critical now, but using matched pairs is always a good idea where possible

Just remember that if you get a kit (of 2 sticks) and one stick is bad then you have to send back in the pair for replacement. You can't just send in one of them. Therefore it is a good idea to keep the original sticks just in case.

Right before I saw lmark84l's reply, I ordered a pair of Corsair since they run at 667 (PC25300) since my m1210 came with two 512mb PC25300 :)

I'm planning to upgrade my laptop's RAM to 2 GB once I get the money. Only, instead of newegg, I'm ordering from TigerDirect.ca (since it's a Canadian site). Pretty much going to try and get the best RAM for the buck. Maybe Corsair, maybe something else.
