so the other night i disabled my Mic, and now i cant find it to enable it again. Under "sounds" in the control panel its tell me no audio devices are installed. All i thought i did was turn it off, guess not??? So what do i do to get it working again. Do i have to reinstall it? All i did was go to control panel < sounds < recording < selected mic and then disabled it. Im running vista on a 1520. Help anyone...

Ok, so I have a 1520 with Vista too...I followed your instructions.....as far as disabling my mic. I didn't do that because I didn't want to screw it up. You could try clicking on configure and seeing what happens. Or try right clicking on the microphone you disabled. If worst comes to worst, reinstall the driver....a good way to test it to see if it works is to go to the control panel>sounds>microphone or whatever (same place you were at), go to recording tab, and click your fingers near the mic. If it works, the green bars should light up to show it's a)working, and b)how loud it's working.

    Hope this helps.

thanks for your replys.. i've tried everything i can think of except system restore which it looks like be my only option left. I tried installing the driver(not sure if it was the right one)didnt work, i tried exactly what Carldaru said above, didnt work, not sure how i screwed it up so much. All i did was disable so I thought. When i go into sounds > recording > etc the mic isnt even there listed. So who knows. Anyone else have any ideas???

Go to your Recording Devices. Then right click in the main area and click "Show disabled devices."

I have the exact same issue. I'm on a tour through Europe and was planning on using Skype to contact home. But without a mic this is impossible. Because i have only limited internet availability and if, really slow connection speeds, i would appreciate some help on this issue.
