    Mic issues with Inspiron 1420 and Vista Home Premium

    The builtin mic on my Inspiron 1420 seems to have stopped working.

    Vista has properly detected it, the drivers are all installed but I cannot get it to detect any sound thru either Skype or Windows Sound Recorder.

    Has anyone else had this problem? What can I do?

    Make sure you've choosen this device as the primary Audio input device ?

    The primary audio device is the Sigmatel Microphone Array... is that the correct device?

    Does the Vista sound panel little meter show any sound? Is the volume turned up on the Mic? (Double click it in the Vista panel)

    Yep that is the correct device.... And like liquidix said check if the voulme is set to maximum for the mic and not muted....
