I've had my Inspiron 1420 for about 5 months now, and I've noticed that on one of the side edges on the lid the paint is really starting to wear and chip. It's mainly because of the way the laptop goes in my bag, and it sometimes scratches against the zipper lining. Even so, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced edge or any other paint wear on their lid finish?

Had my M1530 for a month now. No signs of wear yet but I always put it inside the case that comes with it to prevent any scratches.

Well I guess the XPS's would be at less risk of this, since they have the silver bumpers on the sides rather then paint.

    My 1520 is fine.

I think the paint is great, very durable. Although anything sharpe can do real damage.

My m1330 is fine, as noted it has plastic "bumpers"... but I can see the inspirons run into trouble with edge wear.

I have a 6month old NokiaE65 with a similar microsatin finish and the edges are already begining to wear out.

I'm more worried about the silver painted keyboard if anything...and if you have an inspiron, i would also worry about the silver palm rest. My old "white bumper" 630m losts its paint in a matter of months. Hope the new Inspirons are better (which is why I got the XPS with the aluminum palm rest).

Thats another reason why I chose the alpine white finish, because you cannot possibly chip the finish and get another color :D

I have a xps 1210 and it chipped on the side when it ran into
    my bag zipper.
I just put black marking pen over it and it's fine.
