Wow. Same order date as me!

Only you got a different GPU, screen, network card, battery size, and warranty.

Im sure something in that list will cause me to wait until 8/28

    Congrats though! Lucky Duck

I used notebookreview.com to research my purchase, thank you very much! My cost was $1,438.51, with tax. The total before tax was $1,370.00. :D I was pretty happy with the purchase, and the deal, and now can be even happier because it has shipped.

I hope this is a sign that others will be getting theirs quickly, too. :)

Just as a curiosity, how did they notify you? Via email? Phone? Or did you call the automated order status #? Or talk to a rep? Or find out online from the web site?

I got a phone call this morning from a Dell rep. I could hardly understand her, to be honest. I thought she said my order was delayed for August 3. Now I think she may have been telling me my order would be delivered August 3. :D I called the check order phone number, but it still said my order was in the build stage. Later this afternoon, I checked the phone number, and it said my order was shipped. The on-line update still says in production.

I already told my dear family that they are on their own if this baby is delivered tomorrow. I will be playing with my new laptop, setting her up to go. I need to think of a name.... My husband is happy, because he will now have his own laptop, the one I am using now, a Dell B130.

This is the first laptop that I bought and was able to configure to exactly what I wanted, and stay within my price range. The B130 was purchased at a time when my budget was tight. It served a purpose, but is just a little slow. I knew I would update soon, and here I am!

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!!!

First time I called, it said it was shipped. I checked the site it says it's still in production so I called automated voice system again and it says it's still in production-build stage...I call again it says it's shipped... 4 times, the answer machine has been alternating it's answers...weird

Hopefully this will be good news for my order also. Though I didn't order the 1520 as early as you all. All the automated status number has told me was build stage. A dell CSR told me that the LCDs and the 8600s were on backorder and had a lead time of 10 days. I really hope I can get my 1520 on time as I leave for college on the 22nd.

The true test would be if a delay would cause a further delay. Let me explain...

If the people who ordered the earliest are being delayed an obscene amount of time, then they should be the first one to get their computers (yeah right). If they run out of materials catching up with their first delays, that creates a major delay for those who didn't get their computers (even if they ordered soon). This also means that those who ordered their computers later will not recieve their computer when they were promised. Thus creating a snow ball effect.

    Does that make sense?

Of course that makes perfect sense, but from what I've read, Dell isn't exactly working like that. I could get lucky and have the required parts, which according to the CSR would be the LCD screen and the video card, put into my laptop's bin.

NOOOOO! I just called this morning, and the status changed back to build. I checked on-line, and they changed my ship date to August 28. They also had the prompt on the web site for me to click on to OK the delay again. I am on the phone now, on hold, waiting for a Dell rep.

I am planning on keeping my order, but will be expecting some perks for the delay. I already got next day shipping, with the 2nd delay. I wonder what it will be today.... Maybe a $100.00 coupon?

    Darn Dell....

Wow that is just terrible. Should be pretty easy to get $100. Try for a credit onto your card rather than a coupon.

Was hoping to get lucky today (ordered 7/7 ship date was supposed to be 8/1) - got slapped with the new 8/28 date with the usual explanation:

I have found that the item which is delaying the order is "15.4" LCD Bezel, Midnight Blue, With Camera, 1520/1521".

I spoke with two people, and had a chat on-line with another. One said it was the midnight blue color, the other said it was the processor, and the other said it was the webcam. Who knows, right?

I got the chat person to issue me a $100.00 credit to my dell account. I also got the person on the phone to do the same thing. I was chatting with one at the same time that I was speaking with the other. I have two case numbers, both saying I will get a $100.00 credit after my laptop is shipped. I wonder if I will get them both? They started at $50.00, and we went back and forth, and I just kept saying I wanted $100.00.

I feel like a little kid who was all excited on Christmas Eve, only to wake up and find out Christmas has been postponed.

At this point, if I were you, I would not order your laptop with a color, because it will delay your order. As for what color, if you want a color, I'd say that is a personal choice, as to what color you like. Right now, Dell is charging $50.00 extra to get a color besides black.

Hmmm, i may have spoke too soon! So i called the number you guys gave me and to my surprise, my order had shipped! Here's the catch :

"Your order has shipped! It was shipped on July 13, 1998!"

First off, I never ordered my new laptop until July 18th, and if im not mistaken, it's 2007...? Correct me if I'm wrong

    Gotta love Dell!

The phone service stopped giving me the ESD after the first delay. If I go to check my order status online, in the overview of all orders it gives me the old date. When I click on the specific order, it gives me the new date.

I just spoke with corporate. My original ship date was 8/7. It is now delayed until 8/28. I was told the only color in stock is black. Even if I ordered black, I would not receive it until around 8-22 because of the delays in "building time". The next color to be delivered will be white. Blue should be sent to the manufacturing team around August 17. They are quoting 5-7 business days to build after receipt of the cases. I was given free next day shipping and $100 credit. There is hope for the "midnight blue" crowd.

You can't be serious about that. Why are they ordering one color at a time. o_O Well, looks like I'm looking at my fourth delay from Dell. Also what is this corporate number?
