I had some questions about the blue and some general questions. First off, how many of you who ordered 1720/21s in blue have been receiving your orders. Second question, when I called CSR, the automated status report said that my notebook was in production in the boxing stage, but when I talked to the representative she said that my computer was still missing its cover so I was wondering which of those two sources might be more reliable. Thirdly, I heard brief mention elsewhere about the 9 cell batteries not being flush with the notebook body making it unbalanced - is that the case for 1720s as well or is it just the case with the smaller models? Thank you for your help.

lol i ordered black and was in boxing for 2 days already now they bumped me to sept 14th i mean come on 9 days to box the system?? i wish i would have just ordered the blue one now... i am so pissed...
-
Yeah, whatever they have going on is absolutely ridiculous. For a moment I considered modifying my order to a black case, but I have waited some 34 days for the blue one and now I am just kind of fixed on getting that. At this point it just seems that if I diddle with the order it will just get an even greater delay. So far according to the automated lady my notebook has been in boxing for two days as well but the live representatives don't seem to agree with her.

at least you saved 50

apparently ordering black has no added effect on your time.. my black is taking just as long as others blue ones are so i def would not change your order. i am just kicking myself for not just getting the blue now i would prob have been waiting just as long as i will for the black system... this sucks when i ordered it said blue had a 19 day delay now its 2 days with most of the colors at 0 days delay... the yellow is still saying 10 more days out

I have been in boxing since Thursday afternoon. I will let you guys know if there are any updates. My computer has a shipping date of Tuesday. I'm feeling optimistic it will be shipped by then.
-
Are you getting the information about its stage of completion just from the automated system or are you talking to the live CSR person to get the status?
-
I haven't called the CSR's. I haven't had a need to yet. My computer has not yet been delayed.
I see some people who've only waited a week or so and they're calling the CSR's twice a day. I don't think that's very wise. I also don't think asking for handouts when I already got such a good deal (and haven't been delayed) is a good idea either.
I have no basis on my hypothesis, but I've felt if I left them alone, maybe I'll get some good karma and I'll get mine on time. I am optimistic. -
The 9 cell is not flush with the case, it does stick out a bit.
Thats why i decided on the 6cell.
i ordered on aug 24th and my esd is october 2nd. -
Have you heard anything about the 9 cell making it rocky and imbalanced because of it not being flush? Are both the 4 and 6 cells flush?
-
The 9 cell is not rocky or lobsided or anything. It just sticks out thats all. I usually put my notebook in my laptop back with the back facing down, like the front media buttons face out. so it would be uneven a little in that case, i guess.
I mean I keep mine on 24/7 anyways and i usually don't use it outside too much, when i do go out i located a power outlet pretty easily so its not too much of a problem for me. -
it sticks out less than 3/4" of an inch also just fyi its really not at all bad
-
Oh, I think I misunderstood what the other person was worried about then. I was under the impression that the battery stuck out on the base side of the laptop (like the part you put on the desk). So let me picture this correctly - the extra battery that sticks out adds extra to the rear side of the computer, not the bottom? And if I'm typing on the notebook while it is sitting on the desk it will not wobble?
-
I called today to check on mine, also ordered midnight blue, the CSR said they are still waiting for the midnight blue cases, which is pretty much the only reason for the delays.

Here are two pics one from the back and one from the side of the how the 9 Cell battery looks in the laptop.
-
Ah, thank you everyone for the clarification about the 9-cell battery. MyzTery2u, that picture is very helpful (I was trying to figure out a way to draw that into a post). So anyways, back to Midnight Blue 1720 & 21s or just blue in general - I have heard a great variety of things from the various CSRs and the automated system. All in the same day, my notebook was in boxing (automated), was 5-7 days away from shipping (CSR #1) and at one point also in transit to the USA and just 2-3 days away from shipping (CSR #2). I will assume that everything is wrong and that they still don't have the blue cover. Anyone else know of any recent shipments?
-
I received my midnight blue 1520 on Friday so there should be new shipments coming in. I was in boxing for 4 days and I've heard it can take longer so it's possible yours is on its way to the US.

Cain... how did you get the free printer?
I already got next day shipping, seeing what else I can get -
I was offered a $50 compensation afterwhich I replied that I had actually been looking at a printer. She offered the 926 at first, but I stated that my family wasn't interested in a printer with those specs and that we were considering the 966 (which is true). She said she'd have to talk to her supervisor about it - when she returned she told me that she could not give me the 966 with wireless capabilities (I didn't even ask for that) but that she could give me the non-wireless 966. I said I would appreciate that a great deal and it was done. Don't outright ask for anything but don't be afraid to mention your future plans i.e. printer purchases.
