If you ordered a midnight blue 1720, please post a reply stating the cp specs and your order date, including all of your ridiculous "estimated shipping dates."

Also, any reasons for the delays and any concessions you have received from Dell.

I know there has to be others out there in the same boat! So far I have been waiting for 37 days and it looks like I may have a bit to go. Really, it has been 58 days as of now because I had to re-order due to a Dell F--- up.
Two days ago, a Dell CCR told me that my order was being held up because of the "screen back". I asked her if "Michelangelo" was doing the paint job on mine.
As far as getting anything back from Dell, I have supposedly been given both a $100 and a $75 credit towards my account after I receive the laptop.

Another thing..... What is the deal with their Customer Service? Half of the time I can hardly understand a freakin' thing they are saying! This has truly been a great customer experience!! :twitcy:

I waited a total of 46 days before it shipped. I am expecting it on Tuesday or Wednesday. I was never offered any compensation. I was told everything from paint to processor was the delay. Funny thing was the last time I called, it was the processor that was delayed, next day it shipped.

I ordered 7/10. Yea...that was like a year ago it seems.

Laptop shipped 9/1 according to Dell or 9/2 according to DHL. It should arrive on Wednesday (9/5). The delivery day approaches, and this time it's real!

FlaFalcon and tennbikeberk, I'm glad to see that you both are finally going to get your laptops!
tennbikeberk, with my original order, I also had the "320GB (2x160GB)" Hard drive; however, on my re-order, that option was no longer available and had to go with the "500GB (2x250GB)" hard drive. Because of Dell's screw up, I had to pay extra for that and wait even longer!

Does anyone know if there are any other manufacturers having the same problems with parts?

I can not believe it..... I just called Dell to check my order status and it said that I am now in the " boxing stage!" :wideeyed: Philharmoniker, it looks like we are getting closer. That is, if we are not being given false hopes again. We will just have to wait and see I guess. Here is to keeping my fingers crossed for us! ;)

The 2x160 GB hard drives is one of the options I'm glad I got to take advantage of. I wish I could have ordered the T7500 at the price of my T7300 (not available when I ordered), and taken advantage of the 3GB option for RAM (also not available when I ordered).

The bump in processor speed for no cost would be nice, and I would like to have more than 2GB of RAM, but the only option above 2GB when I ordered was 4GB, and it was quite an expensive option.

However, I am pleased that I got to take advantage of the 2x160 GB hard drive option, for the short time it was available. It's weird how before there was a big gap between 2GB and 4GB of RAM, which has now been filled with the 3GB option, but now by removing the 2x160 GB hard drive option, there is now a big gap for the hard drive choices.

I agree tennbikeberk! I just wish that Dell would not have screwed up my original order. Having the 2x160 hard drives would have been better for me.

Also, as for the T7300 and RAM, I feel the same way you do. It would have been real nice to have the T7500 at the same price and have an option to get 3GB of memory. Having the 4GB RAM was not even an option for me, 'cause it was just to hard to justify the cost difference. Plus, having 4GB RAM on a "32 bit" system, you can not take advantage of it. You actually only get about 3.25GB performance with the 4GB option. That 3.25 is not exact, but it is close enough and that is where the 3GB RAM option would have been perfect!

It seems that they are constantly changing their options and I can only suspect that this is due to their supply.

FYI... it's just possible that DELL has a metric which measures their performance on how many "pushes" each customer receives. So, in order to minimize the pushes, they start using parts ordered for earlier customers to fulfill the demands for later orders. This minimizes the actual number of customers experiencing pushes, but sacrifices the older orders/customers. So not a true metric, but a number they can hold up and say "even through this, only X number of people were effected." Problem is, I'm one of the "X's".

    Would someone care to comment?

    Ordered 7/9
    1st ESD 7/26
    2nd ESD 8/3
    3rd ESD 8/28
    4th ESD 9/5
    5th ESD 9/10
Status - in production waiting on 313-5400. Same part used on many other SHIPPED 1520 green notebooks which were ordered 7/16 or later (the magic no push date for DELL)

Count me among those waiting. : )

I ordered mine after some of you, and I haven't had any delays yet, so thus far I can't really complain about anything. It's driving me crazy to wait, but there's no other computer that I want, and we all know we've had time to look around!

I'll wait it out until November if need be, but I don't think it will take that long. Some of you are starting to receive yours and that's a positive sign. My ESD is next Tuesday, we'll see what happens then.

Also ordered all the popular features. Everybody ordered my laptop. So, what can you do? lol I also got everything for a really good price.

The thing that's killing me right now is that I can't play Metroid Prime 3 on my Nintendo Wii because the Wii needs a system update and I don't want to spend $45 on a part I won't need when my Bluetooth PC comes in. Sigh.
