    Midnight Blue on Backorder

    Well I just talked to Sales, they said the part that holds the LCS is on backorder.
    I asked if that was the color I choose, Midnight blue and she said yes.
    So I asked if I could change that and get it shipped out earlier, she said yes and is not transferring me to Order Modifications.
    That's good because I decided I really want yellow instead.
    Well I'll keep everyone updated on how this goes, don't really have my hopes up, but we'll see. . . . :confused:

    I am pretty sure that there are more colors on back order then just blue. So I would be carefull about that. Your order could end up be coming even later if you change it because they have to cancel your current one and send a whole new one through.

    IMy replacement is delayed due to the blue cover and the cust service rep told em that if I changed my order that it might end up coming later then if I just wait for the delayed part.

    I got my midnight blue 1420 yesterday and it's the sexiest piece of composite materials I've ever seen in my life.

    Errr sorry type, I mean she is transferring me to Order Modifications, she said that if I change the part to one they have in stock it should ship withing 24-48 hours, but as of now I'm taking everything with a grain of salt.

    Trust me a new order would have to be put through and this one canceled. Thats what i was told. so i would call up and ask for the manager and ask them first before changing your order. Let us know what happens. I am in the same boat as you so please keep us updated.

    actually only black white and red is available everything else will delay your order by 7 days.

    Alright I got a lot of information!
    First off like I thought and everyone said there is no amending the order its canceling and re-ordering which could be faster, but prob now.
    Midnight Blue is on back order for 19 days. . . .
    Yellow is for 9 days. . .
    The only ones not on back order is Red, Brown and Black
    The processor I got is also on backorder for 9 days, so even if I canceled and re-ordered at this point with lets say the color black I'd be waiting 9 days for the processor, fun fun fun . . . so nothing to do but wait it out.
    Well hopefully that answers some people's questions.
    Guy I talked to was at extension: 7285120 and said that he could help anyone needing, also he said I could let friends and family use my Company discount for 12% off, and I concider you all friends :>

    Thanks. I figured as much. The only thing holding my order back is the blue color. They told me that my order should be shipping out the 27th. So hopefully that date is right.

    19 days for blue? Why is my new estimate just 1 week later? Is it because I ordered earlier than you (7/7/7)

    I see that if you order a blue system today, the estimated shipping date is 8/16 - which is 22 days from now.

    I tried to figure out if the color Blue was the reason for the delay of my laptop and all I got was : Every order needs to go through a series of production stages before it can be shipped. That is the only reason for your delay.

    Yeah, it took me a lot to actually get to someone that could help. And guess what it was an american guy!
    Anyways, sucks because I decided I'd really rather have the yellow one, but way to much trouble to cancel and re-order.
    Oh well, that's the way love goes! Like a moth to a flame I'm burn by desire yo! weeeeeeeeee

    Im on hold right now with Dell.

    My problem is that the lappy is being shipped to Montana - but after 8/1 (the latest original shipping date) there wont be anyone at that address for several months.

    If I change the shipping address to my CA address, I am hit with an additional $154 in TAX.

    So Dell's delay is going to probably cost me an additional $154

    I am calling right now to see if they care at all.

    Man, that bites~ wonder if you could have the carrier forward it to you in CA after they go to the MT and no one is there.
    That way you won't have to pay the tax. . . .hmmmmm......

    Yeah, maybe you could ship it to a friend in montana, who could then mail it to you. They may have to pay to ship it to you, but you'd still save money.

    Well, I called Dell, and they agreed to change my shipping to California, AND discount my system another $108 or so, to offset the new tax, so I will pay the same amount. That was very good of them.

    If I had to think of "What -should- they do to fix this issue" that would have been it, so I am happy.

    Thats kinda cool that they are trying to help ya rather than just giving ya the cold shoulder, still sucks about the wait time. Guess this seems to be the time everyone orders a laptop or two :p

    It seems that there is an extra $108 dollars placed on every new system so that if anybody complains they can take it off with no problem.

    $108 was what I was discounted with when i complained about my bad non working system and the delay of the replacement.

    So if the delay stated on the website for 1420's is 7 days, then once my 7 days is up (7/29), then the process should be moving along again? At this point, would it be worth calling Order Modification and switching to Ruby Red?

    I placed my order on 7/11 with the following:

    They originally gave me 7/30 as my ship date, but as that date is coming closer and closer, and it's still in build stage... i'm afraid it's going to get delayed .

    And a while ago I entered the chat and asked if there were any delays on my order but they told me everything was fine...

    What do i have to do to get my actual (non bs) status?

    I'm specially worried since i leave the country on 8/10, (I have 2nd business day shipping so it would have to ship as late as 8/7??)

    Lol. Well, if they discount the pre-tax total by $100 even, and you have it shipped to a state like california with 8.5% tax, your total will go down by $108.50 or so - so that explains the $108 amount.

    What is the backorder time for the midnight blue on 1720s? They haven't sold as many, so I hope they will have them in by my july 27th ship date.

    I just called again, and they said the reason that they were out of Blue inspirons right now, is that there is a worldwide shortage of Smurf pelts, and they are having a harder time capturing live ones for their skins.

    I looked on the website again, and ****. There is now a 15 day delay for 1420 Midnight Blue's. I am seriously contemplating switching to Brown or Red.

    UPDATE: After being through Dell Chat, I was told there was no longer a delay for my order, unlike two days ago when I was told there was. So now he assured me my order will be moving along as normal. Yay!

    So... just as I thought... yesterday i asked for my order status and they told me it was delayed. I canceled immediately my order... very disappointed. Looks like i won't have a laptop.
