Ordered a 1501 for my dad on Monday, his shipped out Saturday as well, via DHL.

 

dhl and ups both work on sat if its requested by the shipper they incur and additional cost for this..

now on shipping.. dell's "express" delivery is in fact not technically "overnight" they send you the email and then (4 people in the last week i know have had the exact same issue so its not a one time thing) you see a 3-5 day span.. if you call and scream they can upgrade it while its out.. some poeple have got lucky and had it actually the next day...

just remember that next day air delivery is not the same as what dell calls "overnight express"

 

YES!!!!!!! i ordered a jet blue on 8/4/07 and i checked the status today and it says its in boxing stage!!!! YAY!!!!!!

I know that Dell tests and boxes the computers out of order. I've been on this forum for a month now (only signed up Aug 1) and have read almost everything pertaining to a 1420 or 1520. I've seen the post you've pointed me to before.

I was just merely commenting on the fact that it is out of order...which just sucks for people like me who get shafted...that's all I'm saying...

Anyway, congrats to everyone who has gotten their laptops shipped.

 

Only three more days until I get my fourth delay. I'm eagerly awaiting that dreaded email the day after. I wish there was more information available to the customer about their order status. The phone telling me I'm in build isn't doing me any good. =(

 

I called 3 times to "expedite" my order. I'm not sure if it helped, but that could be one reason they have been received out of order. When I called and got free overnight shipping, they also added me to their "expedite" list. Not sure if this really helped or not.

 

So Dell is the people i need to call to get the shipment upgraded to true overnight?

 

why would it cost about 60 dollars if it isnt overnight shipping? i dont get it

Weird, I ordered on July 13th with an estimated ship date of August 8th, hasn't shipped and has been delayed to the 28th, how have you already had 3 delays?

Looks like we have the same specs too except the processor.

I ordered a Jet Black 1520 on 8/4/07 and it's in the boxing status... they really do work on the weekends.... so happy right now.. can't wait till i get my hands on it. lol

 

I ordered a 1521 on June 27. Canceled after the third delay.

 

I called this morning expecting THE VOICE to tell me "..currently in the build stage". I literally did a double-take when I heard "boxing stage" instead. Maybe I'll get it this week (ordered 7/9)

 

What screen? And did you order the webcam? Just trying to figure out the trend. I ordered mine on the same day but don't think I'll be out of BUILD anytime soon.

And by no means am I griping, there are plenty of people who deserve to be shipped well before me. I'm just anxious and hope the screen isn't too grainy.

 

haha this is funny, i just got my free carrying case and it shipped the same day as laptop just laptop is coming fedex, Stupid FEDEX, DHL would have taken it here with my dam bag!!!!

dell website says it shipped 8/11/07 and fedex says the Ship date Aug 13, 2007, i thought i would be able to get it today, but estimated delivery is the 14th, do you know if i call dell they can get it upgraded and here today?

I ordered my Dell 7/26 and I called Dell Customer Care and complained at how it was going to take 3 weeks to build a laptop, the Indian dude on the other end told me that he was going to bump me to Next Day shipping for free. My laptop is supposed to ship on 8/17 and arrive on the 20th. I haven't been delayed yet and I have been calling once every 4-5 days to check up on it and so far still set on the 20th. I sux cuz I need my laptop for college which starts the 23rd. Hopefully I get it by then.

I heard the blue inspirons' paintjobs are very very bad

 

Why would it be any different than any other color YLZ??

 

Well, they were out of blues, and so many backordered, so Im sure they just spray painted a lot of brown or green ones.

 

they have a shortage of blue lids and i read on other threads of the lids painted unevenly and have edges chipped off.

 

my lids perfect and i love my laptop

 

I got mine yesterday (8/14)....crimson red and the paint job is perfect. I absolutely love it and now I know it was worth the wait! Now, just to find the time to play around with it and learn Vista.

 

I just spoke to the sales rep thats handling my order and he said that my laptop hasn't even been built yet or even started to be built. Supposedly it will be shipped the 17th of this month. YEAH RIGHT!!!!! I doubt I'm getting my laptop this month. I'm thinkin about callin them and askin if I can change the color of the lid and maybe that will hurry the process.

 

In retrospect I bet Dell wishes they had designed a laptop with a changable color plate on the top rather than just colored tops. That way you could order a different color later if you wanted (kid of like cell phones). They could then put the lids on the accesories/parts replacement site.

 

WHAT THE !@#$ IS WRONG WITH DELL!!!!

He gets all those compensation when he's suffered the "normal" delivery time, while I ordered on the 23rd and get NOTHING???? I'm phoning the 1800 number, screw the Canadian one.

Just curious, why does Dell gets the paint in batches, instead of getting all the colours... I'll phone until they tell me they're done building, then I'll cancel and reorder!!!
