While using the volume buttons on the front of my Inspiron E1505 today, I noticed that for some reason, my on-screen volume meter disappeared (the volume goes up and down properly when using the buttons, but there is just no meter displayed anymore).

I am having trouble finding a way to get it back; I checked the Quickset options to make sure it was not disabled, and also checked Google to see if others had this problem. Most of the sites mentioned reinstalling Quickset, which I tried with no luck.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so, any suggestions? :)

For reference, this is what meter I am talking about (will have to copy and paste the link since it apparently does not like being linked to):

Most of the time it shows for me, but sometimes it doesn't.
Try calling Dell Technical support for help.

Have you disabled Dell QuickSet by chance? I believe that is the program that runs the onscreen manifestations of the volume buttons. Check in the tray to see if it is there, if not go to programs and open it. Best of Luck.
