    Mistake ordering my Vostro 1500

    I order a Vostro 1500 on Thursday. However, I want to change the video card from the 8400 to 8600 model. Anyone know if this can be done easily? Or is this a real pain to get Dell to switch this before the unit is built/shipped? I tried to find a way to edit the order online, but can't seem to find it...

    Try calling customer service...worth a try. Some of those notebooks take a month to ship, so it won't hurt to make a phonecall.

    quick phone call to customer care. they will easily swap it out. While I waited for mine a ended up calling and changing a few things. but you go back to the beginning of the building process, in other words your wait time starts from scratch.

    If want to keep your existing coupons etc... intact you have to contact Dell's modify department. They are the only ones that can modify order.. But doing so they have to cancel and recreate order. I don't know what the wait times are these days but it essentially puts you at the end of the wait line again.. But you can also try to have them expedite and offer overnight shipping to speed it up.
