Just got my Studio 1555 out of the box. LOVE IT!

I was wondering if anybody knows of any modded 4 series GMA drivers.

I clean installed Win7 7229 x64 RC and working on getting all the drivers up to date. Not really use to dealing with integrated graphics, so Im sort of naive when it comes to GMA drivers.

    Thanks in advance.

Why do you want modded drivers? Are you looking for more gaming performance?

No. If I wanted gaming performance I would have ordered the Radeon.

Im just the kind of person that likes to eek out every last bit of power the laptop can produce.

I remember the 945GMA being heavily modded, not sure if it's only because it was the predominant netbook chipset for a long time and had a lot of people using it.

EDIT: and since the g45 series GMA is Directx 10 capable and renders full 1080p Blu Rays, i figured there were some tweaks out there since it's the only integrated that supports up to 512 GDDR3 ram.

The chipset is relatively new, so I can't imagine it's been heavily modded yet. Good luck in your search!

i havent opened it up or anything, but par for the course, dell tends to make it impossible to add dedicated graphics after original ship.

Anybody know of that's the case with the 1555? Not really important since this laptop will only be for school and multimedia anyways. :]

Yeah, the dedicated graphics card is soldered to the motherboard. You would need to replace the entire board itself, which will easily run for half the cost of the system, if not more.

This is true of most laptops, not only those from Dell.

To be honest, if there are any modded drivers I doubt the effort required to find them would be worth it in comparison to any performance increases.
