So I'm deciding between the vostro 1400 and a t61, biggest issue is price atm. I want to order the Vostro, and if it fits my needs, I won't order the T61. However, I'm not sure about the 30-day money back guarantee - does this include shipping / restock fees? This is in Canada, btw.

    Vostro 1400 - $800
    1.4 ghz T5270
    Windows XP
    1GB RAM 2 DIMM (2x512)

    T61 - $1175
    2.0 ghz T7250
    Windows Vista Premium
    1GB RAM 1 DIMM (1x1024)

Also, is there a big difference between a 1.4 ghz T5250 processor, and a 2.0 ghz T7250 processor? The most intensive thing I will be doing is playing WoW on the computer, most of the time will be surfing/word processing. They don't have any more Vostros configured at 2.0 ghz T7250 on the Canadian site (at least not with the $100 off), so if there is a big difference I will most likely go with the thinkpad. I will most likely make the RAM 2GB on both systems, so I save some money on the Thinkpad since it's 1 dimm.

Thanks so much in advance. I will check back soon :)

Well there is this one deal, where you save $100 if you choose either the 1.86 celeron M, or the 1.4 C2D. If I customize it to what the Thinkpad is in terms of stats, it will be around a grand, in which case I will just opt for the thinkpad.

My Vostro 1400 with a 5250 absolutely tears through WoW. You won't have any problem doing what you want to do with it. I don't know about Dell Canada, but there was a special not too long back that was awesome, I got:

    1.4GHz C2D
    2GB RAM (2x1024)
    120GB 5400RPM HD
    NVidia 8400M-GS
    Etc.

For $600 + free shipping. I added the XGA+ screen upgrade and Bluetooth, which pushed it $60 higher, but it was a serious deal that I couldn't beat anywhere else. I've been very happy with my Vostro since getting it.

What settings are you running the game at? I'm thinking of getting BT too, are you running Vista or Home? When I try to buy home it says the BT355 is incompatible, but another thread here said it was OK.

i have the 5250 with 1 gig ram and the 8600gt (opted for the better gpu over the better processor) and runs really well at my 1280 x 800 native resolution.

Dell Canada's no-restocking-fee-for-30-days return policy on Vostros and other business laptops does not apply to shipping and handling fees.

Just because Dell's website doesn't list the procesor with that deal does not mean it is unavailable. You may be able to get both the procesor and the deal by phoning.
