After trying every idea I could come across to get MediaDirect working okay on my system, I've given up. I've installed it every way I know how, but it all leads to the same result: a 'Dell MediaDirect Express cannot access your hard drive. This may be because you have enabled Microsoft BitLocker (Drive Encryption). MediaDirect Express is not accesssible when Microsoft Bitlocker is enabled' message.

The MD button will work once the first time I've installed MD, but the SECOND time I boot into the MD OS it gives me that message and screws with my startup (the MediaDirect OS takes over the power button, and XP bootup can only be fixed by hitting the MD button and booting into the MD OS a second time). So, it's not totally catastrophic because it doesn't ruin my partition table, but the MD button still does mess with it. In the end, because every result has been the same, I deleted the MD partition, merged the space with my C:, and decided to forget about ever getting MD to work.

My question now is: is there anything at all I can do with that MD button? The ultimate would be something like, it just functions as a normal power up button, or just disabling altogether. I read somewhere that people have had some success with the former using Vista by just deleting the partition, but this certainly doesn't work for me. It still tries to boot up MD, and still leads to that error message and takes over the power button until logging into the MD OS a second time, which boots up XP completely and automatically loads the MD application when fully logged in. This behaviour would be okay if it then didn't go back to trying to load the MD OS if I hit the MD button AGAIN when the computer's off. In other words, the MD button works in an okay way every SECOND time I hit it.

I'm using XP and the success stories about getting this button to be anything other than useless/borderline dangerous seem to be related to Vista. Maybe I'm stuck with it. But I sure would appreciate any ideas or information on what I could do.

    Thanks a lot!
