Ok Y'all......Sorry to bother y'all again but I am trying to find the right notebook... I am interested in 3 different ones really....
I also heard the new Latitude E series was going to be coming out, any idea when or if this even true?
Inspiron 1525
Latitude D830
XPS 1530
Could someone with a little more knowledge of laptops (which wouldn't take much) help me please..
I like the colors of the Inspiron 1525, I like the looks of the keys and such on the Latitude ( I like the black, I just don't like the Vostro), and I like the lightness of the xps 1530....
I will only be using this on occasion , but I imagine my son will use it more, he is fixing to be 14 in April..I don't game, he may a little...
On the 1525 what exactly is the HDMI , I know it means high definition something or another but what is it for?
Also what is this in the 1525..Built-in Wireless USB capability plus Belkin 4-port hub
I like the three of those and really unsure how to build one.....
Any help is appreciated....I don't mean to seem like I don't know anything at all but when it comes to computers and laptops in general, I DON'T, therefore I had rather ask someone rather than get something I don't need or need more of..
I can spend any where from 800-1800 give or take

Do u live in the southern part of US?
Perhaps, Texas or Louisiana?
I've just never heard the phrase 'fixing to...' outside of Texas and I wonder if others use it too... -
you will pray a price premium for the latitude over the inspiron and a largerprice premium for the xps (generally speaking, dell has so many large and ever-changing discounts that sometimes you can get xps cheaper than inspiron!)
HDMI exists because standard cables don't have enough bandwidth to carry FULL HD video (that is video at 1080x1920 and 60fps also called 1080p) HDMI can carry full HD video so if you ever want to play HD video off your laptop but watch on a screen bigger than your laptops you need an HDMI cable to connect your laptop to the screen. HDMI will likely see more uses than just HD video transport in the future though.
For occasional use ANY Core 2 duo processor will be more than you need and MOST Turion X2 procs will be more than you need, the only reason I would see for you going to the Latitude or the XPS would be for discrete graphics which you don't need unless you play serious 3d games or do a lot of CAD work. Make sure you get 2gb of ram or more.
wireless USB is an emerging technology with ~15ft range, allows you to use wireless USB equipped USB devices without having to plug anything in it's nifty but currently overpriced.
RAM and Hardrives (and the gpu for 3d stuff) are now pretty much always the limiting factor in performance for things such as web browsing, word processing, organizing photos and other normal activities.
If I was you I'd cash in on one of the current Inspiron deals.
just my 2 cents -Ndp -
LOL gobipie...I am from the South yes, born and bred, the heart of Dixie...ALABAMA! YEA!! LOL
We are always "fixing to" down here ! You oughta hear me trying to talk to Dells Customer service,,they can't understand a word I say, of course it is mutual , I sure can't understand them lol..Come to think of it, half the folks here in Alabama can't understand me I talk so country...I wouldn't trade my southern heritage for nothing in the world! God has blessed me muchly!
Sorry didn't mean to write a novel! LOL -
TY deputc26! I'll take everything you said into consideration for sure,,,as I said, I know nothing about laptops and not very much about desktops lol..

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
The weight of all three laptops are within 0.2 pounds of each other according to Dell's site. That's starting weights of 5.98 for the D830, 5.90 for the 1525, and 5.78 for the 1530. So if you only liked the lightness of the 1530, that's pretty much out of the picture.
Now if you're gonna consider any sort of gaming, you cut the 1525 out of the picture since it has an IGP. That'll leave you with the D830. But the NVS140M in the D830 is pretty wimpy as far as dedicated graphics go, so then you might again consider the 1530 which'll get you the 8600M GT.
At that point you'll be paying a significant premium over the 1525 and a smaller premium over the D830. So it really comes down to what you value more here. Also, deputc26 explained HDMI and wireless USB; I don't really care for either, I don't think they're a very big deal... you should definitely not get the Inspiron just for those.
