Was just visiting engadget site and there's an update about the mini dell series.
Lots of pics and detailed spec have been revealed and it's on engadget site.
These new series look really nice woot~!

I really like the design and use of those laptops it just sucks that I'd only need one, once a month or so. I'd miss the power of the regular 15.4" laptops. Maybe in a couple years those kind of laptops will be commonplace and I can pic up a used one.

*Jaw Drops*
Me wants one now *cries, then sells Latitude on eBay* -
So it clears up that both models have 3 usb ports and expandable SD slot.
Also, we wont be seeing early version model until late fall~early winter i guess. But I think the specs are pretty great. -
I'm all over this when it's finally released!
-
Looking good... 300 bucks for an actual mini-laptop with 9" screen and plenty of usb ports. I'll definitely pick one up once they're out.
-
it's not as ugly as the studio
-
It is very sweet. very.
*shiny* oooh LOL.
Ok..back to serious mode now.....Yes, think it's an awesome looking piece of power!

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Hard choice, this or the EEE 901 ($600!). May get this due to cheaper price and looks better. I already have $275 saved up for this or the 901. Can't wait till August!

shoelace_510 8700M GT inside... ^-^;
Yeah I am excited as well.
Hopefully we'll be getting more info on them soon seeing as it is already July. XD
-
I noticed reading through the slides it said somthing hinting release "post-oct", also V2 comming in Q2 2009
-
hopefully this where dell will redeem itself.. bc they have been releasing crap lately
-
What crap have they released lately?
-
I think they turned the company around! Far from crap imo!
-
-
actually i own a dell desktop which i'm very happy with. I was hoping to buy my first dell laptop but not with that new junk they are releasing...it might be good for the average web surfer but not for gamers.i mean come on you cant have the same GPU for 2 yrs in a row.Times are changing get on with it dell.
-
The XPS 1730 is a fine gaming laptop and they don't claim any of the rest of their lineup is for gamers, so I fail to see how the lineup is crap.
And there are uses for computers beyond web surfing and videogames. -
i'm not talking about the xps line here
-
Well for the specs you want, you will need to get an XPS. You can't expect the same specs on every line or else there would be no reason to have them all.
-
the GPU is big part of my choosing a notebook at a resonable price i'd say 1K mark. Its basically between the xps, new HP 5 series or sony FW. I just want something like geforce 8600GT which is not asking for much.Last yr it was offered in the vostro and inspiron line so why not again. The thing that pissed me off about dell was offering them in that multimedia bracket and then canning it in the new lineup.
-
If Dell offered the same components for the Studio as the XPS then they would compete with each other. And the expenses spent to promote each line would be wasted. Each line is meant to have a niche and if you want certain components, you'll have to pick that series.
-
I thought Dell's sub notebook was supposed to be out in July?
Anyway I'll buy an E if it has these features - that's why I'm still waiting, thought the HP looks good.
1024x768 screen (not too much vertical scrolling required)
SSD storage (whats the point having a normal HD in such a small device)
3 hour battery life -
They are coming out in August.
-
I'm looking at the E-Slim, but it all depends on the price.
