Dell, this is unacceptable.
I'm not alone, there are others who had ESDs about this time who are also still in build...we are not happy.
-
I know.. this is really bad. And I also know this wont be comforting to hear, but mine took 30 days to "build" and deliver, just 2 weeks ago. I know.. inhuman. Not the right way to run a business Dell...
On the bright side, once you get it in your hands, you'll "almost" forget about the long wait instantly
Hang in there buddy -
You should receive a delayed email sometime around noon, I think. But if things haven't changed much from last week, you might go into testing/boxing within the next couple of days. Good luck, and I agree with jfdube, but it's still very annoying to have to wait so long.
-
To be honest if I don't hit testing by the end of the week I think I'll call and reorder with the 9 cell battery and the LED LCD... -
Start calling in for compensation. I got $50.
-
Why can't they do more useful compensation...like a free upgrade on my screen, or to my shipping...
Still...that's cool... -
I'd definitely call in to complain/get compensation.
Get calling!
I'll say though, this is my first dell experience and if I get stuck in the same situation as you, I'd be raising hell. I don't see how it can take a month to BUILD a computer. -
What number should I call?
My luck with customer service has been really bad I was wondering what number gives me the best chance of getting a competent person...
I wish there was a guide for dealing with dell CSRs so I knew what was the best way to handle the situation lol...I suck at things like this. -
Try calling CS again, but ask to speak to a manager.
It's funny, people with nearly the same specs are ordering wayyy after you, but getting their computer before you. -
-
Don't tell me you got the 6-cell...
But, the thing is. People are ordering WAY after you, even with a 6-cell battery, and they are already shipped. I'm willing to bet it's your screen. -
What screen did you get?
I bet if you call, you will get free next day shipping, and some sort of coupon for your next purchase. -
-
I see you have the 1680x1050. I am sure it will be junk. If not, make it up. Call customer care, tell them you are afraid to get another 1680x1050 because from your research, most a junk, and ask, because you waited soooooo long, if they can give you a LED. Ask for a supervisor if you have to.
I did it on my first try, 10 minutes, and I had it. -
-
mine was only 4 days over the ESD...but because I waited 5 weeks, I told them they needed to compensate my properly.
-
I might just reorder with the LED LCD and the 9 cell and do it with the EPP sight for the 'higher education student" discount so it won't come out being that much more expensive... yeah it'll bush my esd back til next friday but I'll have a better system and shouldn't have any delays...
idk...I'll wait and see what happens... -
FWIW, I got a free Logitech VX Nano wireless mouse AND a free Logitech Webcam Pro for notebooks, for my troubles (through my corp. rep). About 200$ worth.
Complain my friend. Its your right. -
Yeah, the site is saying a 12 day delay on the 6 cell batteries right now, and it seems to have gone up every day. The weird thing is that I ordered the 6 cell batter, and the midnight blue, which is delayed for 5 days now, and my order is already in boxing, and I ordered way after mat. Maybe Dell just has forgotten to scan your laptop at every station and its really shipping right now and you dont know it, lol, very unlikeleky but I am just trying to make you feel better .

I still have a week and days to go till my ESD but I have the feeling that I will be getting shafted also. I ordered before you nonamebowler yet I'm still in building. Only difference is our hdd and screens.
Update: I just rebuilt my computer online and the ESD goes from 6/11 with a 9 Cell to 6/27 with a 6 cell. They're up to a 16 day delay on the 6 cell. I could reorder today and still get it faster if I opt for the 6 cell
Update 2: I called the regular support number and could barely understand the man but he offered me no reason to why the computer takes so long to build and wasn't aware of any battery delays even after i reported what I saw on the build website. Dell is starting to make me very upset. -
xps m1530 cancelled
order date 5/5
esd 6/4 not going to happen-still in the build stage!
How different is Intel Core 2 duo processor T9500 2.6GHz and T9300 2.5GHz
there is a big difference in cost, just want to know if it is worth it. -
Well...Just got my delay email...delayed tell the 10th...
I'm changing my order...
Projected Ship date for the build is the 11th and this way I get a better screen and battery... -
Yep same here, I just got my delay letter

When I called Dell to give them a piece of my mind I was told their crappy Database is down again... I don't even know if I should cancel or wait-- I really needed this laptop by the delivery date, if I cancel and reorder that would delay things even more... Should have chose another company but DELL in the beginning, little did I know how notoriously bad their CS is! -
Yeah really...
I need the sales guy to hurry up and call back so I can get my order changed...
As far as I know there is absolutly no delay on 9 cell batteries or the LED screen... -
Order Date: 5/27/2008

Good luck on my end so far... my specs--

Gah, I probably will have to wait longer than the 20th or so to get my laptop then. URGH. I want to reorder so bad, but it's too much
-
/comfort
Call them and tell them its unacceptable because it didn't meet the ESD, and on top of that they didn't even tell you it was delayed before your ESD. Also, if it's the screen that is the problem, they should have contacted you so that you had an opportunity to cancel, wait or order another screen.
If the CSR gives you a run around demand to speak to a supervisor/manager.
I'm glad I canceled mine (FYI same order date as yours). I had to absolutely get my notebook by tomorrow before my trip.
Hope they compensate you adequately and you get your new toy soon. -
Tried calling Dell customer support to see if there is any forseeable delays in my build, and to ask a question or two and could barely understand the automated message. From what it sounded like, they said the customer database was down for about the next three hours and told me to call back in about 3 hours, and I was unable to reach a CSR as the phone like would only repeat an automated message.

It sounds like I am in the same boat as everyone else. Mine was supposed to ship yesterday, but instead I got a delay letter for shipping on the 10th! I call today and the status still hasnt changed. I am not sure if I should cancel or hang in there. I really want the XPS but I am sick of dealing with all the issues of wait time. Especially when others out there have gotten theirs before mine!!

Anyone who has gotten a delay letter should call dell and raise hell. Mine isn't till the 13th but I called and talk to a rep today and he promised me before or on that date. Now I know his promise doesn't mean crap in the real world but it will be something to say when I'm tearing through the dell phone tree if they try to delay mine.

Has anyone tried using the Dell Chat option, I know people have complained about the long waits but I believe it is the best option because it gives you the ability to have a record of what is said during the conversation. I usually get an email after i exit the session but you can also cut and paste the conversation.
If you are in the need to prove that you were lied to or mislead, records come in very handy. -
It -always, always ALWAYS- says that there are no available reps to chat with. ALWAYS.
-
Just talked to the canadian representative, asking them for a detailed status.... was kinda amazed, he talked to me about the full status, that it's done building atm, and it's about ready to be boxed up.... so it will probably make it's EDD
-
Been in production since the day after i ordered it, where is this boxing stage? it doesnt say anything about that stage
Btw specs are
T8300 / 2GB Ram / 13.3 LED / X3100 / 320GB 6 Cell Batt -
You have to call their order status number to get the specifics. I believe the number is 1-800-433-9014, I think I have it memorized I have called it so much, lol.
-
Well, I just called that number you gave me and it says its still in the build stage although its suppose to ship tomorrow..
-
My sales rep guy was supposed to call today so I could change my order...no such call :/
Dell...what is your problem. -
-
-
Boxing Stage... Isnt' this one as long a building?
-
My Building Stage took about 4.5 days. Then Testing took about a couple hours, and boxing took 2 days. All in all my laptop shipped out in a week and I am receiving it today, 8 days after my order.
-
Typically not. You should be getting your notebook as per your EDD. Good luck and enjoy it!
-
I too have received the message about calling back in 3 hours, it is not an automated message. I have interrupted their message and made a stink because I have called 5 times in the past 3 days and get the same message from their reception. The last person transferred me to manager who did not answer and whos mailbox was full. I can not believe the lack of customer service these people have.
-
Well, my ESD was today and I just received a email saying that my esd will be pushed back to the date of my EDD.
Needless to say, im moving next week so ill have to cancel.. this is really bs -
Question: If I am from the USA, can I call a canadian rep for my USA order? I can barely understand the outsourced customer support.
-
-
YEAH!!!!! I just called out of the blue, expecting to hear "build" stage and I am in BOXING!! Hopefully they will ship by tomorrow and I should see it by Monday!!
