I need to install Fedora for a class. Dell had to go and use all four partitions. Which one is the most expendable? I like MediaDirect so that's not an option and I kinda need Windows so that stays. Therefore my choices are either the recovery partition or that tiny boot configuration partition which I don't know what it does. I like the idea of quickly recovering to factory settings, but I have no idea what this tiny partition does.

Make restore discs, then you can wipe the recovery partition.

Just use the Operating System DVD and wipe the dream with a clean install. You'll use the MediaDirect CD to partition the drive and install that first. There's nothing of real value that Dell installed from the factory.

I believe you can install Fedora on a logical partition, so you can go ahead and resize your Windows partition and do it that way. If you only need it for a class though and don't need heavy graphics capabilities, you might look into running it in a virtual box.

A clean install like burningrave suggested is always a good idea. Clears out the bloat, it's better than gasx, beano, and tums combined.
