So here it goes:
- I placed my order with dell over the phone. After not receiving my confirmation email for days, when I finally got it, I did not see that the OS reinstallation CD came with it (when in fact it was on a different line). I called Dell to ask if I came with it and they said no. They cancelled my original order and replaced the same order and charged me $10 extra for something I already had which delayed shipping.
- when I got the computer it had a solid blue line down the screen. so they sent me a new computer
- the new computer had bad drivers and crashed when I inserted a DVD into the drive
- the new computer's battery will not fully charge.
- Dell lied to me about shipping the reinstall CD and are back talking their way around it.
I will never order from Dell again.

Ouch. I guess I was one of the lucky people, I had no problems whatsoever and am very happy with my notebook. Sorry about your trouble dude, hopefully everything is cool now.
-
nope.
.......... -
Just smash it with a hammer... it might not fix the problem but it sure as hell will make you feel better.
-
Sorry for your troubles but dont think this service is common. Since I assume the case is closed you cant do anything but I would have demanded free gift cards. You would be surprised how much you can get from them.
-
Sorry about your troubles Flash Gordon. I understand fully what you are going through. My experience with Dell has been miserable. In fact, because of their incompetence they have ended up sending me 8 $75 concession coupons, a free $94 printer, and two free wireless cards.
-
wow thats incredible. I didnt know you could get that much gift card money.
-
wow...they used to have a limit of three coupons ($100 max each) per customer per year. they've obviously upped the limit...no doubt because of problems like this.
-
with that kind of money you could buy another notebook from the outlet.
-
wow....I haven't gotten squat beans. I can hardly (and haven't yet) get the reinstall for MediaDirect CD. How did you get free stuff?
All in all, I love the new lappy, but my experiences will Dell have been less than desirable. I'll go through someone else next time.
e1505
2.13 Dore Core 2
2 G DD2 RAM
80 G 7200 Hitachi HDD
Radeon X1400
1200 x 800 Glossy
the look and feel is great, it is just Dell's customer services that really blows.
Bad experiences to date:
1) I placed an order over the phone and it took 3 days to get a confirmation email
2) When I got the confirmation email and I called Dell to confirm that the reinstall OS cd came will the machine. They told me it did not when indeed it actually did and canceled my order and charged me an additional $10 and delayed my shipment date
3) The first computer sent to me had a 800 dead pixel going vertically down the screen.
4) The replacement computer was shipped to be with a bad driver that caused the system to crash whenever DVD were payed
5) The battery would not fully charge
6) I waited for 30 minutes on the phone to speak with a person in customer support that did absolultey no good. The support is horrible!
7) I was supposed to get all reinstall CD and not just PowerDVD and RecordNow. I specially requested the MediaDirect reinstall DVD
8) A manager was supposed to call me within 48 and never did. -

Whenever the situation gets tense, and you are trying to get them to commit to solid action, they pull the "I will personally call you back" thing.
And they never do.
Happened to me several times with my last ordeal (they lost my 5150 sent in for repair).
