Well so far I haven't had any problems with the 7800 in my 9400 but I think it might get a smidge hot after playing san andreas for a couple hours I kept ik8fan running in the back ground, The max temps it recorded for the 7800 were 77 degrees C and it seems like it won't even kick the fan up on high till it reaches 70 deggres, just web browsing the things always around the high sixtys. I found if you force fans to high the 7800 will stay in the low sixtys high fiftys. so what are your quys tempatures for stock non overclocked 9400/E1705 and do you guys think my tempatures are too high? will my graphics card last at least a year?

That does seem a bit high. I just got my E1705/9400 but right now ik8fan is showing my 7900gs temp at only 56C with a peak of 76C. I wonder if dust is preventing the heatsink on the gpu from doing its job properly.

My temps (for 7800 go) range from the mid 50's to the mid 70's with light gaming, running the fans on high all the time. If I play something intense, it may run up to the low 80's...81 or 82 deg C. I've had the laptop since may with no ill effects thus far... I do have a cooling pad though, after I seemingly overheated one of my memory modules due to the gpu heat..

****Just to note***** The 7900GS runs much cooler than the 7800 go, due to it's smaller architecture and better power consumption. It is supposed to run cooler than the 7800.

Well two year complete care should cover the memory and everything else right? if Gpu does short out, Thats too bad they have to underclock them but going from a GMA900 to this is like going to heaven! so much fun!

you can adjust the temps that the fans kick in, your well within tolerance, so I really wouldnt worry about it, the 7800 is a very warm running card, your temps will be a good bit above the 7900,the 7900 is basically just a die shrink of the 7800, giving you a cooler more efficent chip , one way to help keep it cool is to set your fans to kick in before it gets hot, on my m1210 with a 7400, I have the fan triggered to run on high when it hits 55c, and my overall temps are about 10-15 degrees lower after an hour at load than at stock settings, I wouldnt worry till you start seeing artifacts or get random lock ups or reboots, and with proper care, occasional burst of compressed air to the vents, and no, or at least very carefully executed overclocking you should be fine
