Hello everyone, i just have a questiong about the laptop i will be getting soon.

Intel Pentium M Dothan Processor (1.8GHz/400MHz FSB/2 MB Cache)
    512MB DDR SDRAM 333MHz 2 DIMMs
60 GB EIDE 5400 RPM Hard Drive
    128MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
17 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen WXGA+ Display

Now that video card being ATI 9700 pro, i am not sure how it will perform with newer games, like Far Cry, Battlfeild 2, and or my favorite Morrowind and all the expasions, what is your take on it, will i be able to run them with much problems or?

    Thnx all.

    Cheers.

if you are willing to sacrifice on some resolution and quality, all those games are playable.

Keep in mind that the mobility 9700 is NOTHING like the DESKTOP 9700 pro -- the mobility 9700 is the same chip as the mobility 9600, only slightly oced. Both have 4 pipes. the desktop 9700 pro has EIGHT pipes.

The oc potential of the chip is also limited -- as even if you managed to get a 30% oc (which given the TDP of the case and the 9700 being already clocked pretty high, is next to impossible) -- your performance will still be no where NEAR even a x700 -- which basically doubles the performance of the 9700 in stock form.

Anyway that's the con part of your gpu -- it's old, it's not fast, but you can definitely play most games, just don't expect to turn on all the eye candies. :)

    cheers,

    yass
